Welcome to Sook Lim's page!

I am an associate professor in the Master of Library and Information Science Program at St. Catherine University. I was born and grew up in Korea. I obtained my BA and MA in Economics at Ewha Womans University, Seoul, Korea. At Ewha, I had an eye-opening experience about many social issues and developed many good friendships. Then, I came to the United States to continue my education at the State University of New York at Buffalo. There I earned my MA in Economics and my MLS.

After returning home to Korea, I had the opportunity to teach a course at Hanshin University in Osan, Korea. This immensely enjoyable teaching experience changed the course of my life. Through this experience, I discovered that I have a passion for teaching and that I wanted to teach at the university level for the rest of my life. To fulfill my dream, I returned to the United States to pursue my Ph.D. at the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I earned my Ph.D. At Madison, I met many great professors who helped me grow intellectually and discover my other passion, research. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to making a better society by engaging in teaching, research, and service.
